Best Animated Short “He Can’t Live Without Cosmos” by Konstantin Bronzit. Using subtle and effective metaphors and seductive moments of humour, the director weaves complex threads into a powerful emotional narrative about family ties.
Best Student Animated Short “Naked” by Kirill Khachaturov. This film’s characters have convincing inner lives that transcend their awkward and relatable physicality and their abject surroundings. We are taken along with them on a strange spiritual journey.
Special Mentions: “Throat Notes” by Felix Colgrave for having complete control over an absolutely absurd universe. “Fourth Wall” by Mahboobeh Kalaee for its use of an inventive visual language to convey a child’s-eye view of a family in crisis.
