Bryan Parcival: Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)

For over four decades, the Rhode Island School of Design’s animation program has produced an eclectic and adventurous array of award winning student films. Whimsical, absurd, dark, poignant, personal, experimental, wild, wondrous, and weird, no two films are alike. With an emphasis on concept over technique, RISD student films tend toward mixed-media, risk-taking, and playful curiosity. Even when the films “fail,” they do so creatively and spectacularly. RISD’s animation graduates range across the fields of popular entertainment (creating Superjail, The Last Airbender, and Family Guy) through innumerable independent film and multi-media expressions.
